Lewes Base Ball Club

Established: 1874

Re-Constituted: 2012

The earliest known reference to date of baseball in Lewes is from February 1874 when a match pitting Lewes against Milton was advertised for March 1, 1874. Unfortunately the outcome of that contest is not known. Lewes played home to a member of the Eastern Shore Baseball League in the early and mid 20th century.

The new Lewes Base Ball Club is part of the Lewes Historical Society and started play in 2012.  Their uniforms are taken from vintage pictures of the original club which dates back to the 1870s.  They play by the rules of 1864 and welcome all clubs to a great beach setting who would like to come and visit and challenge the club.
