The 2013 season had a different feel to it as a newcomer from the south dominated the league for the first time ever. The Excelsior Base Ball Club of Milford won the regular season championship and the MAVBBL Championship Tournament that they hosted in September. The Tournament featured some of the MAVBBL’s most storied clubs but the “muffins” ruled the event. In the Tournament, the upstart Diamond State BBC of Delaware held the Elkton Eclipse to their lowest run total of the year and moved on to the semi finals where they downed the perenial favorites in the Brooklyn Atlantics to set up a match with the Exclesiors. Milford squeeked by with a 4-3 win to take home the title. To get there Milford downed its rival the Lewes BBC 15-0 in the other semi final after it defeated West Chester in the quarterfinal. Milford finished 29-3 for the season. Brooklyn was 2nd with a 46-0 mark while Elkton finished with a 26-7 record.
A record 21 clubs were entered for the 2013 season and the league looks even brighter for 2014. Conference champs included the Brooklyn Atlantics, Milford Excelsiors, and Chesapeake Nine of Baltimore.
